  • They Just want to do oil changes and nothing more!

    Made an appointment online and went there for a new muffler and any other parts needed with that service.The manager used a sthethascope to find the problem (what a joke) after explaining to him exactly what the problem was and sitting there for an hour and a half he said he could not fix it today because he did not have it in stock and the place where they get them was closed on the labor day holiday.(then why are you open) I wasn't born yesterday they DO NOT want to do ANY real service that they advertise because it will tie up there mechanics.     Monro Muffler in Catonsville, Maryland is a total unprofessional rip-off business. I was charged $395.99 for cat. converter plus 120.00 labor. The same cat. converter retails for $142.99 at Advance Auto, that is over 176% mark up over retail. DO NOT GO TO MONRO MUFFLER for any service, the staff was ruin and unprofessional.     I took my truck to Monro on Park Ave. and all that was supposed to be dome was I bring the shocks and they would install them. Sounded simple enough. NOT! They call back with a $2000.00 estimate to repair the entire front end suspension. Then said they had already put the shocks on???? I asked Why?   • Exhaust flex fitting needed replaced.

    Called monroe to see about getting a flex fitting put on my exhaust. Old joint rusted out while exhaust was still in decent condition... I had already diagnosed the problem, told them exactly what was wrong and what I needed,got in for a same day appt, etc... So far great service... Went in for appt, guy told me it shouldn't be too much, got the car on the rack and then waited for a response for half an hour.     I replaced the alternator on my car I noticed the next day some squeaking under the hood, I took a look pulled on the belt and everything seemed fined the belt was tight and it didn't squeak when it was idle, worst case belt could have been going bad.   • Monro Muffler - Repairs not correct

    I have brought my Chevy Malibu to Monro Muffler for two separate issues. The first time was for loud sound in the wheels. It turned out to be bad struts. When I picked my vehicle up, the noise was even louder. The service manager told me they had received bad parts and needed to do the repair again.     Its happen at 5641 Baltimore National Pike, Baltimore, MD 21228 ( Monro) There is no sign of professionalism in there job, in communication and no walking with customer to see the car problem.     I recently noticed that the bracket holding my muffle (2005 cavilar) had rusted through and needed to be replaced, my father suggested Monroe muffler (greorge urban location in cheekyowaga) thinking it couldn't be more than a $50 fix. I went in and they quoted me $103 for labor and parts. I was very upset and was wondering where I was going to come up with the money.   • Reimbursement Required

    Monro needs to own up on their mistakes. I have experienced such horrible service on my car which caused me to incur nearly $6000 (6 thousand) in repairs, undue duress, loss in benefit time at work, interest on my credit cards, numerous hours of personal time researching issues when all I wanted was my car fixed.   • SO FRUSTRATED!!!!!!!

    July 2011, I took my car to Monro for muffler clamps. They said my exhaust was rusting and needed to be replaced. $950+ and my car was making this noise when I accelerated. Called, complained, took car back. They "welded" a small leak (come to find out they never did weld anything!).     In September of 2011, I brought my 2007 Subaru Legacy 2.5 to Monro Muffler on William Penn Highway in Monroeville, PA 15146 for replacement tires. James McCloskey is the representative that helped me and did the work on my vehicle.     I just left monro recently and just wanted to let people know they are crooks now that I am not worried about losing my job. Most shops that I have seen or worked in dont really do flushes on your car seeing as in very few of their shops do they have a flush machine that works, therefore it is just a drain and fill not a flush and that means you should only be paying about half. Also I hated never being allowed to take lunches or breaks even though the computer docked you for them anyway, and how you would be forced to stay way past scehdule or asked to work astronomical hours.   • Monro Stinks

    I was charged way too much to have my brake, and fuel lines replaced because they were both leaking (I did call around after the fact, and was quoted about half the price I paid). Three months and thousands of miles later I took my car back because it smelled like gas, and I needed an inspection sticker. I went to Monro today to get a "special price" inspection. The store manager joe smith tells me it's $40. I then said so there's no deal??? And walked out. He yells to me , " if you have a smart phone I can Give you $10 off. So I do it. He lifts my car up and then tells me he can't pass it because my wipers blades are worn. My license bulbs are weak. A sticker on my rear of tailgate must come off and I have a coolant leak. Which needs to be immediately addressed. My car just had the motor replaced and there are NO issues. This guy is the biggest crook I've ever seen in my entire life. Stay stay from Monro at 909 Hanover street manchester nh 03104. One look at this bozo and you will know who in talking about. What a dink!!!!!!

I went to Monroe Muffler and Brake in Derby NY. for an oil change. I drive a 2002 Cadillac with 50,000 well maintained miles on it. The Manager comes out and says I need 2 rear shocks and an internal cabin filter. He asked me to go into the shop and look at the shocks. I noticed black oil on both the upper and lower part of the shocks. I told the manager they were air shocks. If the oil was to seep out of the shock it would have not been on the upper and lower exterior of the shock it would have been on the seam..... When the Manager went back and told the mechanic that these were air shocks he replied .... {you cant fault me for trying}. He put old motor oil on the shock to make it look like it was leaking... What a joke... The oil in the shock would have been clear... and what would he be checking my cabin filter for.... I went for an oil change... To boot he rotated my tires not in the order they should have been. They tried to hit me up for $597 dollars for shocks, $105 dollars for cabin filter.Good thing I am a half ass backyard mechanic that new better.... Beware of the Derby NY Monroe, They are thiefs..

I've posted once before & let my son post about his truck. Be aware the New Kensington, PA Monro Muffler is just as crooked as the others. You take something in & then you have to either return to get it fixed after an installation or you get a job done & they break something else in the process. They are rude & unprofessional. The ONLY reason I took mine there was because my uncle (who IS an honest mechanic) worked there. He is no longer there & the work has become sh**ty & the mechanics (maybe 1 good one is there) are idiots. MY OPINION!!!

i went in to Shop #32 Monro Muffler in Yorkville NY for a clanking noise in right rear they told me I needed rear struts I said ok. Then they called (6 hours later) and said i should get all four struts done because 'they cant guarantee the noise will go away'. Well I had it done and my original noise is still there! They say I asked for struts and wont refund or help me otherwise. Im so stressed.

seems all of these garages are shameful lies and deception are what you get if you take your car there and oh yea a messed up car that will cost you thousands of dollars and the customer sevice department well lets just say they all need to be reevaluated and yes FIRED! do yourself a favor do not go to any of them but particularly avoid ohio river blvd. and cranberry garages!!

I guess what I had a problem with is the assistant mgr (a young woman) who also works on the cars (admirable) at the Springboro,Ohio location. To slam the keys of my car on the counter after working on it and the cold nasty look on her face, well, I won't go back. Is she kidding me? The mgr. was very nice and thanked me for my business.

I went to Monroe in Springboro, OH for a routine oil change, and I will never go back. After the oil change, I was told there were all sorts of other things wrong with my car, most of which had to do with tires or brakes. Luckily, I have a family friend who does all of my tire/brake work, and I did not have Monroe fix the things they claimed were wrong. I gave my friend my car and the list of problems Monroe had given me, and after working on my car, my friend said that several of the "problems" on my list were not issues at all. He told me that several auto shops do this-they see a young woman bringing her car in all by herself and think they can go fishing, AKA lie to us and take us for everything we're worth. I wouldn't have had Monroe do the work no matter what, because they wanted to charge me WAY too much, but I'm sure there are women who fall for their crap all the time. I'm sure there are other auto shops that do the same thing, so women, beware...and don't trust just anybody with your car or money.

I had a 10 day window to get my vehicle inspected in PA. On the 10th day I went to Monro to get an inspection on my 04 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I was told I had "leaking" shocks. After reading the PA regulation on inspections it states that there must be a severe leak on shocks and also states "Not just damp". After refusing to pay the ridiculous amount for shock replacement ($120 per shock for the same brand that would run 44.99 at Auto Zone) I took my jeep home and noticed that my shocks were just merely damp. Took it back and the manager was a dick and refused to show me any sign of a "severe leak". After finally being able to coax him outside to look at them he claimed that they had been "wiped clean". Keeping in mind I had just drove 25 miles home and then back again and never wiped the shocks clean. Monro is a complete joke and tried to take advantage of the fact that I was on the last day of my grace period and figured I'd feel rushed and shell out 300 some dollars for a simple shock replacement.
