On 8/25/07 I went to Monro Muffler in Watertown, Ct. to have my oil changed & opted for the upgraded service which included semi- synthetic oil (Maxlife), inspection & tire rotation. When the service was complete I was told the tires could not be rotated because the rear lugs were frozen. The tires are relatively new & have been on since April '07. I mentioned to the manager that I paid for services, other than the Maxlife oil, that I did not receive. No brake inspection or tire rotation. There is a product called Liquid Wrench which is designed for such a problem & I do not think they tried very hard to loosen the lugs. When I told the manager I was not satisfied he said to give him the receipt & he would note that the next time I brought the car in the tires would be rotated. I asked him how he thought that if the lugs could not be loosened now how would they be loosened the next time. I got a deer in the headlights look with no reply. I even EMailed Monro customer service & got no reply. Ever since Ken, who was a manager left & always satisfied me & I expect others, I have gotten nothing but excuses from the other managers. I once brought another one of my vehicles in to have the oil changed on a Fri. afternoon only to be told they could not do it because there was only one person available & he was busy. This was on a Fri. afternoon so why was there only one person available? There are many other shops in the area who perform the same services & to be sure I will go to them from now on. I have 3 vehicles that I would bring to Monro for service. No more. The service & customer service is awful.
I would appreciate, if possible that this be forwarded to Monro customer service.

I would write up my complaint here but you've read it already on this complaint site, Every complaint here is repeated over and over again, the only thing different is the location. My Question: Why has there not be a class action law suit filed against this company, I would love for Chris Hanson to get hold of this one! I will never go to Monro again!

I've been going to the Hyde Park, NY Monroe, which is upstate, where I have spent a lot of money. Don (the manager) has always been nice and fair to us, but does have to abide by the rules & regulations of Monroe (unfortunately. I have never been ripped off by his store, never would be. Monroe itself is a different story.

I contacted Monroe Corporate and am surprised at the lack of concern they have for a long time customer.

I had purchased a complete exhaust system (excluding the catalytic converter) for my daughters car on 3/6/08. Of course Hyde Park Monroe office gave me a good discount, they're great.

Now 2 yrs, 5 months later the longest pipe to the muffler is rotting away & the muffler has a small leak. To bad for me the warrenty for the pipe is 1 year. That's because it's a crappy pipe & not made to last. The pipe from the manifold to the catalytic converter is good though. That is the material they claim. If not I don't think it wouldn't have lasted a year with the amount of heat the engine throws off. No way would "100% aluminized pipes are constructed from heavy 14 and 16-gauge steel" (their words) rust, this bad, this quick, especially when we're not around salt water & the car is used almost every day so condensation is dried up.

Then we have the muffler, which has a "limited Lifetime" warranty. Can't have a different shop put a new pipe in because it'll ruin the muffler. They have universal mufflers that will fit any car, make a extra pipe to fit between the muffler & the exhaust pipe. The catch!!!! You can't buy the extra pipe and can't make one unless you have a machine to bend it, which most shops don't. This is where they get you because you now need to replace the muffler.

This is if you don't go back to Monroe and pay over $200.00 for another crappy pipe that will last only another 2 plus yrs. What a racket, and I'm told there's nothing I can do about it. I would think they have to stand by the product they provide. I may be wrong, but I'll see. It just may be a case of "BUYER BEWARE", if so shame on me!

I'm going to go to any length I can to discredit Monroe, because of the inferior parts they provide. Not the shop I go to, or it's workers because they did nothing wrong, it's an excellent shop.

I service all of my cars at Monroe in North Olmsted Ohio and I love them. It must be the manager that makes a difference. People are the thing that makes or breaks a company!
